MARJA SALEVA is an experimental visual artist who uses photographs to reveal something invisible. The starting point in her work is a personal, documentary snapshot which she manipulates by using various  digital and physical tools and collage techniques. In her books, zines and installations she contemplates different layers of reality – the real and surreal, the documentary and imaginary, the physical and psychical. Family, romantic love and the related cultural and social norms are recurring themes in her practise.

Saleva’s works have been exhibited in various group and solo shows in Finland and internationally. Saleva graduated as a visual artist from the Turku Arts Academy (2013), and she has a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences from the University of Turku (2001). She lives and works in Helsinki, Finland.
